BETR STEM Coordinator

Reports to the Central Office

  • Acts in a role similar to a sports coach including building
    a qualified STEM Mentor
    team, providing training, giving encouragement, following direction from the
    central BETR Director, and maintaining a keen interest in promoting success
    both in the project at large and making each workforce center a successful partner.
  • Area of responsibility range includes  Colorado Statewide
  • Works with COMSTEC and other organizations to find and
    register qualified STEM Mentors
  • Works with workforce center's Business Consultant's
    to locate
    local business leaders to find and register qualified STEM
    Mentors
  • Works with regional post-secondary institutions to
    attempt to find STEM Mentors in the 3rd and 4th year
    undergraduate population
  • Communicates with BETR-STEM Facilitator located in each
    workforce center within in the assigned region
  • Communicates with the BETR Central Office team to
    provide feedback and address issues
  • Fully understands the BETR STEM Mentoring architecture
    and is able to assist individuals within their coaching region to register,
    access, monitor, and ensure timely mentor/mentee connections
  • More as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must participate in initial online or instructor lead BETR Project
    training.
  • Will participate in online collaboration discussions and program roll-out
    training with the BETR Project personnel.

TIME REQUIREMENTS

  • Full Time


BETR Education Coordinator

(1 FTE BETR Employee)

Reports to the Central Office

  • Area of responsibility range includes: Colorado Statewide.
  • Works with School Districts, District Principals, BOCES, Teachers, and other staff.
  • Works with workforce center's Business Consultant's
    to locate
    local businesses to participate in Tuesday Tours and other live business and education programs.
  • Communicates with the BETR Central Office team and Regional Workforce Centers to
    provide feedback and address issues
  • Fully understands the BETR architecture
    and is able to assist individuals to register,
    access, monitor, and ensure timely connections
  • More as assigned

  • Must participate in initial online or instructor lead BETR Project
    training.
  • Will participate in online collaboration discussions and program roll-out
    training with the BETR Project personnel.

 

TIME REQUIREMENTS

Part Time Regional Assignments:


The following 2 fob functions may be
combined and assigned to 1 individual or may be assigned separately as desired:


 

Tuesday Tours Business Recruiter

(.10 - .15 FTE)

(WIA) possibly from the local
Workforce Business Relations Group.

A regional WIA contact.

Job requires this individual must have
a keen awareness that success requires meeting time deadlines and being prompt
in action.

  • An individual assigned by a regional WIA or a
    combination of like WIA regions to serve as a contact with regional businesses
  • Performs outreach and delivers the goals and procedures
    of the Tuesday Tours program
  • Fully understands the mission and goals of the Tuesday
    Tours program.
  • Is able to convey a positive message to business as to
    how their involvement will potentially impact their future workforce and market
    their company
  • Shows businesses where and how they can contribute
  • Registers local businesses as participating Tuesday
    Tours provider
  • Fully understands the mission and goals of the Tuesday
    Tours program.
  • Is able to convey a positive message to business as to
    how their involvement will potentially impact their future workforce and market
    their company
  • Delivers business registrations to the Central BETR
    Director
  • Works with the Central BETR Director to ensure
    businesses receive Tuesday Tours Posters and participation certificates
  • Works with BETR to accept project donations from local
    business and ensures that the appropriate sponsorship plaque is sent to local business
  • In Colorado,
    works with the director to ensure that Enterprise Zone information and
    submission are in place
  • Acts as the 1st point of business contact to
    handle modifications and cancellations of monthly tours when needed
  • Ensures that Reminder emails are sent to each
    participating business 1 week prior to that month's tour
  • Coordinates and communicates with the Tuesday Tours
    Education Recruiter
  • Priority to communicate any modifications and/or
    cancellations immediately.
  • Must be an individual driven to make the program work

  • Estimated 10%-15% once program is established in local region

 


BETR-STEM Facilitator

(An Individual in Each Workforce Center - or assigned to multiple as
desired)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

This is an
assigned person located in each of the coverage workforce centers with sufficient
knowledge of the BETR STEM Mentoring architecture and troubleshoot minor access
issues. The primary assignments for this person include:

 

  • A local workforce center agent connecting job seekers, youth, and area
    teachers with the programs and personnel of the Business and Education Talent
    Readiness Project (BETR) STEM virtual Infrastructure.
  • This individual must have a working knowledge of the access methods and
    scope of the BETR STEM Mentoring environment. Must know how to create a mentee
    account and how to coordinate with the Regional STEM Coordinator (STEM Coach).
    And how to troubleshoot local system problems.
  • Must monitor local BETR-STEM users and ensure that systems and
    connections maintain a positive and constructive collaboration. Will report and
    access or negative issues to the BETR Project rapidly.
  • Job requires independent judgment and discretion
  • Contacts with others could be somewhat complex, requiring excellent
    customer service skills.
