Colorado BETR Project
Helping Colorado Prepared a
21st Century Workforce
THE CHALLENGE:

The state of Colorado, and the nation, has a growing workforce emergency in preparing the business workforces for 21st Century education, needs and talents. Increasing deficiencies exist between the supply and demand of our homegrown workforce's applicants readiness exiting the educational system pipeline with today's business needed skills and background that include: science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), communications skills and professional career desires (work ethic values).
The Colorado BETR Project has been formed to “weave a community fabric” comprised of business, education, government, teachers, students, and parents to assist in overcoming this challenge. "BETR" is an initiative that needs input, sharing and focused talents to solve our community's needs. The primary goal is one to significantly “reduce the leaks” in the education pipeline and strengthens the output of skilled and competent workers in today's 21st Century Careers.
The Problem:
Large amounts of statistical data show there are expanding segments of the 2 young Digital American populations with both low levels of educational achievement and interests. This combined with the exiting from our workforces through ageing the most highly educated and technically productive generation in U.S. history, only intensifies the country's econiomc and jobs situations. The lost of skills and talents of this analogy generation are expected to cause a projected drop in the average education levels and the aptitudes of the U.S. Workforce to meet labor’s demands.
This projected decline in educational and skills levels directly coincides with the expanding growth and needs of knowledge-based and 21st Century business workplaces. This productive part of our society requires professional, confident, flexible, self-directed, capable, communicative, highly-educated workers. Combined with an expansion at the same time of the global economy forces our nation’s businesses to increase opportunities in hiring to the best skilled & educated workers from wherever they maybe to remain competitive. As other developed nations continue to improve their educational pipelines into work, the United States 20th Century educational system graduate worker applicants will increasingly find themselves at a competitive disadvantage in any market place.
The Solution:
Colorado Businesses are a key factor in a helping solution for homegrown talent being created! Teachers, students and parents informed, with the knowledge and preparations for STEM careers are critical to establishing Workforces capable of changing our nation’s present course. Success in this initiative is vital to success in the economic viability and sustainability of every region of Colorado and our country.
